In the first six months of this year, exports of different types of goods from two Customs of BillehSavarand Ardabil has been reached to $27 million in the form of 79 thousand tons. This shows 75% growth in terms of value and a 216% increase in terms of weight compared to the comparable period in the last year.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Directorate General of Economic and Financial affairs of the Ardabil Province, Dr. Mozaffari said: “Among the major export goods from Customs of the province these can be mentioned: glassware with a 14% share,Plastic products with a 12% share,Potato with a 12% share, and poultry chicks with a share of 6%.”
“Azerbaijan with a share of 68%,Iraq with a share of 14%, Afghanistan with 7%, Georgia with 5%, and Vietnam with 3%, were among the main export destinations of the province.” Director General of Economic Affairs and Finance of Ardabil province said.
He mentioned that in the first half of the year imports of goods decreased by 54% in terms of value and saw a 20% drop in weight over the same period of the last year and has fallen to $6 million.
Dr. Mozaffari stated: “Increased exports and reduced imports has brought significant improvements in the current trade balance of the province and the main reason for this growth is related to the increase of the exchange rate in the country. Increase of the exchange rate or decrease of the Iranian national currency has led to the increase in the price of foreign goods for Iranians and the decrease of the Iranian goods prices for foreigners and thus, demands for foreign products has been reduced for Iranians and demands for Iranian goods by the foreigners has been increased, especiallyby the neighboring countries. Right now, trading balance of Ardabil Provinceworth $21 million. This figure was only $3 million compared to the same period of the last year.”
At the end, Director General of Economic and Financial Affairs of the Ardabil province, pointed out: “In the present situation in which the purchasing power of Iranian consumers has fallen and the economy has faced the phenomenon of inflationary stagnation, there is an opportunity for manufacturers and exporters to conquer export markets by branding and improving product quality and take advantage of this opportunity optimally to help economic prosperity improvement.”
